Mechanical CAE offers engineers the tools to design, analyse and refine system before the product moves from design stage to prototyping and testing. Ever-increasing demand exists for faster time-to-market & better value-for-money products and CAE simulation to predict optimal designs.
Job market
Global CAE market value by 2021 being $5.84 billion is growing at 11.1% CAGR. Automotive, Aerospace, Defense, Medical and Consumer devices industry is in sheer need of skilled CAE engineers in tens of thousands globally and in India. Asia Pacific is the fastest growing region with Indians leading in CAE expertise globally.
India context
India, being known for frugal product development specialises in Value Engineering (VA-VE) projects. India enjoys privilege in terms of indigenous product development across all industrial domains using CAE and also by hosting largest ITeS market for ESO – Engineering Services Outsourcing. India’s CAE sector providing employment to tens of thousands of engineers from Mechanical Engineering streams faces the problem of employability with acute shortage of skilled talent. UG/PG curriculum in Indian Universities does not yet support the skilling of students in CAE.
Kerala support
ICTAK partners with iNCAETEK to offer Government of Kerala’s SDPK (Skill Development Portal of Kerala) scheme for training in Design & CAE. Govt. of Kerala’s ICFOSS collaborates with INCAETEK to offer seminars on Virtual Product Development (VPD). Govt. of Kerala’s ASAP associates with iNCAETEK to support CSPs (Community Skill Park) related to Product Engineering.
Careers
Companies like TCS-EIS have hired 100+ students certified by iNCAETEK-Altair on CoEDAS through campus placements since 2012 , much needed for Crash simulation, Aerodynamic flow simulation, NVH/Acoustic analysis for noise reduction, Fuel efficiency studies for lesser emissions, etc. Aerospace applications demanding lightweight structures too are benefited by CoEDAS skilled engineers in CAE. Safer-cleaner-quieter-lighter products for automotive and transportation applications need talent, skilled enough for hi-tech R&D jobs.
